LEONA MAGUIRE AND Stephanie Meadow have both bowed out of the US Open, after failing to make the cut in New Jersey.
Maguireās second round six-over 78 left her seven shots off the weekend cut, while Meadow, who came third in this tournament three years ago, carded a one-over 73 to finish on six-over.
22-year-old Maguire got off to a strong start with birdies over the first two holes, but the world amateur number one followed that up with three bogeys and a double-bogey before the turn.
Further damage was to come on the back nine, as she added two more double-bogeys on the 13th and 14th holes before signing off.
Meadow, who started her second round on the 10th, also began brightly with a birdie on the second hole. But she also hit a bogey and double-bogey further on in the round to see her follow Maguire out of the tournament.
Shanshan Feng of China is currently on the top of the leader board on eight-under overall.
